It’s that time of year again—less than 3 months until the Knit Inn. More classrooms have been added and we now have 35 different classes taught by 24 volunteer teachers, many of whom live out of state. Thank you to all of the teachers!! Several new classes have been added in response to requests from previous years. Most of the classes deal with knitting, but there are also others that address other aspects of fiber arts.
Friday
Ballroom A will be available for socializing and, of course, knitting immediately after the last Friday afternoon class. The ballroom will be open throughout the night for any night owl knitters. Feel free to bring a comfortable chair from home. Dinner will be on your own. Anyone who stays at the Drury Inn will have access to the hot food and free drinks in drinks in the evenings and hot breakfast in the mornings.
About 7:30 PM, we will gather in the ballrooms for a Needle Tasting provided by the North Georgia Knitting Guild.
Good tools help to make good work. Needle preference is a very personal choice. This is an opportunity to try different kinds of knitting needles to see which fit your needs the best. Available will be Denise Interchangable Needles, Addi Clicks including Turbo, Lace, Natura and fixed length Addi lace needles, Hexagonal shaft needles from Indian Lake Artisans. If you have a favorite needle(s), bring the set or even just a needle or two, to share with the other knitters.
We suggest you knit a small swatch and leave it on the needle with a small ball of yarn attached. Label your swatch with your name and size/type of your needle(s). Leave it on the table for others to try. Your name on the swatch will also ensure you can retrieve your needles at the end of the evening. This way there should be a wide variety of needles available.
Saturday
Vendors will be in Ballroom B again from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Since the lunch from Honey Baked Ham was so well received last year, they will provide the lunches again this year. Because the meals have to be pre-ordered, please enclose your choice with payment together with your registration for the Knit Inn.
Saturday evening will be our Pizza Hut Pizza Party in the Ballroom. There will be a wide variety of choices again this year. Following the pizza, Barbara will conduct a Chinese auction. As you know, Barbara has a knack for collecting some wonderful items. Two tickets are included with your registration. You may obtain one additional ticket for each item you donate to charity. After the auction, it will be Show and Tell time. Bring any knitted item you wish to show, especially any item you may have made at a previous knit inn or with yarn and/or pattern you may have purchased at a previous knit inn. Please be prepared to tell how to obtain the pattern and the yarn you used to knit it. If the pattern is one of your original patterns or a free pattern, please bring a copy of it.
Rosie the mannequin was a hit last year. If you have one and would like to bring it to the knit inn this year, then contact Nancy Minor at nancyminor@gmail.com.
We will do BRING ONE, TAKE ONE again this year. If you have a book, video, pattern or magazine (with all pages intact), you no longer want, but is still recent enough that someone else might like, then bring it with you for trade/exchange. You can also bring a kit or yarn to exchange. All of the items will be placed on a table in Ballroom A. Just be aware the exchange will likely be as loose as last year, and you might not take home something as wonderful as you brought.
Registration should open in early December.
I hope you are looking forward to the Knit Inn as much as I am.
