KnitInn 2011
February 4,5,6 at the Drury Inn in Greenville.
THE SEVENTH ANNUAL GREAT KNIT INN
Sponsored by the South Carolina Knitting Guild
Friday noon to Sunday noon February 4-6, 2011
Drury Inn 810 Carolina Point Parkway Greenville, SC 29607 864-288-4401
Come join old friends and make new friends at our 7th Annual Knit Inn. Contact the Drury now to reserve a room and plan to stay for the weekend. There will be 30 different classes, taught by 23 different volunteer teachers, with about 350 slots for people!
In addition to the classes we hope to take advantage of the talent in attendance. Everyone is invited to serve as a mentor or coach. Our own Robin Paul is a whiz at Looming and has a technique to make a terrific 30 Minute Hat. If you want to give it a try, bring your loom with its hook and some worsted weight yarn. Robin will share her technique with those interested Friday afternoon. If you have a skill you would like to share informally during the weekend, let us know and we will put it on the website so people know what to bring.
Since we have grown, we have promised the Drury that from 7-10 a.m. and 5 & 7 p.m. the dining area will only be used for dining purposes and agreed not to set up any equipment there. This should not be a problem as after classes on Friday, Ballroom A will be set up for us to gather there Friday evening and all day Saturday. It might be a good idea to bring your own chair for maximum comfort. Who knows, we might knit in there all night!
Friday night dinner will be on your own. Those staying at the Drury have included in the room rate the evening Kickback – free drinks and hot food (as well as a hot breakfast). Around 7:30 we will gather in the Ballrooms for a surprise activity with prizes.
On Saturday Ballroom B will have vendors from 10 a.m.--6 p.m. We are so excited at what Nancy has discovered. Honey Baked Ham will pack custom box lunches labeling them with your name. As they must be preordered, submit your lunch order with registration.
.
Saturday evening we will have a free pizza party followed by a “Chinese Auction” for which Barbara has gathered some wonderful items. Two tickets for the auction will be given at registration. View the items around 5 p.m.and drop your ticket in the bag. Next will be a Show & Tell combined with Ask the Expert. Share a product of a prior Knit Inn or your biggest success or greatest disappointment. You may ask the expert anything. We will have so many experts in attendance that the expert will be someone in the ballroom who has your answer. Someone may even be able to show you how to turn your disappointment into a success. Be prepared to tell how to get the pattern and what type of yarn you used. If the pattern is your original or a free pattern it would be great to bring it so that people might copy it if interested.
New this year is something we did at one of our meetings, Bring One, Take One. If you have a book, pattern or magazine (with all pages intact), which you no longer want but is current enough that someone else might want it, bring it with you. We will put these on a table and if you brought one, you may take one.
We are looking forward to the weekend and hope you are also. See you there!
